COMMONS #01 - Building the cloudsters COMMONS
A personal invitation to those who know the future must feel different
I’m Holger Eggerichs — a father of five, a systems thinker, and for more than two decades, the quiet keeper of something that never left me: cloudsters.
This isn’t a brand launch.
It’s not a product release.
It’s an invitation.
To build something new — in public, in rhythm, and in relationship.
Not a company.
A commons.
Where it really began
cloudsters didn’t start with a business plan.
It started around our kitchen table — and later, in a field with old circus wagons.
We had one simple question:
What if everyone could contribute a part of their time, energy, creativity, or experience to things that truly matter to society?
We began with three projects:
NATURE – raising young people with an awareness of nature
ENERGY – exploring the future of energy
CLOUD – imagining the future of work
From those seeds grew a space in the old town of Lübeck — a creative hub, part café, part co-lab. The subtitle we chose said it all:
Community, Ideas, Concepts and Projects
— a quiet predecessor to what we now call the Commons Incubator.
What cloudsters has become
cloudsters is not a startup.
Not a consulting model.
Not a personal brand.
It’s a living architecture — a way to weave meaning, responsibility, and regeneration back into how we live, work, and relate to each other.
It is now a platform for commons-based learning, governance, and collaboration — one that integrates frameworks, digital agents, and future-facing professions to help people and communities engineer more sustainable, more livable, more coherent lives.
We don’t want to fix the system.
We want to redesign how systems emerge — and who gets to shape them.
Why now?
Because something essential is cracking.
The platforms are hollowing.
The workplace is breaking.
The AI wave is cresting.
And people everywhere are whispering the same thing:
“I want to build — but not like this.”
What we need are new architectures:
Grounded in care
Designed for complexity
Co-created as commons
And aligned with life
The future needs new professions
cloudsters exists to support a generation of Commons-Based Engineers — people who help redesign not just tools or roles, but entire realities.
Life Engineers — designing personal rhythms, patterns, and regenerative capacity
Business Engineers — aligning organizations with purpose and shared value
Urban Engineers — reshaping cities into livable, participatory systems
Regenerative Engineers — restoring human and planetary coherence
We equip them with frameworks, language, learning journeys, and digital agents like Viva, Luna, Urba, Silva — tools that are not extractive, but relational.
What this publication is for
This Substack is where I will share, sense, reflect, and document the work of building the cloudsters commons — openly, dialogically, and imperfectly.
You can expect:
Essays on frameworks for life, business, and regeneration
Patterns from our fieldwork and system designs
Reflections on responsibility, freedom, and future-making
Invitations to engage, pledge, learn, and build together
This isn’t a brand voice.
It’s a commons voice — and I hope, eventually, our voice.
Who this is for
People who feel the current system no longer fits — but still want to build
Founders. Parents. Designers. Educators. System thinkers.
Those who want to reimagine architecture — not just decorate the walls
If you’re still reading, you’re already part of this.

Let’s build the cloudsters commons —
not in theory, but in trust.
In dialogue.
In rhythm with life.
Who I am
I’ve spent the last 20+ years navigating transformation across industries, institutions, and communities.
Inside the system — as a business engineer and transformation strategist at CSC, SAP and Porsche.
Outside the system — as a founder of commons spaces, business angel, a listener, and a lifelong learner.
cloudsters is where all of that converges.
Not as a career step.
But as a life response.
Next up:
How cloudsters began — and what I almost lost trying to carry it alone.

cloudster COMMONS

Great idea about the framework. Like Scrum for agile, commons could become the standard framework for sustainable businesses and communities. Blockchain technology could enable a new ecosystem for value creation.
